Duke!ZONE II is an authorized expansion pack released in 1997 by WizardWorks for Duke Nukem 3D. It was developed exclusively by WizardWorks, unlike Duke!ZONE. Most of the maps have been criticized for their poor quality, mediocre design and unfair difficulty. The original version of Duke!ZONE II also includes the 500 user maps from the first Duke!ZONE, although the Kill-A-Ton Collection version does not. Duke: Nuclear Winter, developed by Simply Silly Software, would borrow some of the new artwork from this add-on.
Duke!ZONE II contains three new episodes:
- Arctic Assault - "Duke must shoot his way through an urban arctic wasteland - it's cold."
- Alien Abby - "Duke battles his way through underground passages, hidden switches, trap doors, and more adrenaline-pumping excitement."
- Monkey Shines - "Duke shoots his way through canyons, a funky fun house, a hip bar and a toxic chemical processing plant - just to name a few - and the last level, 'No where to run' is jam-packed with monsters and none too easy."
Duke!Zone II has a total of 21 levels, with seven in each episode.
The level "4 Way Stop" can only be accessed via cheating or command line arguments as it is not linked to any secret exits. It is unclear if this is a design flaw. "4 Way Stop" was later modified into the map "Santa Match" for Duke: Nuclear Winter.
