The Large Medkit is an item in Duke Nukem 3D.
Description[]
The Large Medkit gives the player 30 points of health when picked up. Large Medkits will heal the player up to 100 health.
Large Medkits are surprisingly common throughout the game. In fact, they’re the most commonly encountered health item throughout the game.
Tips and Tricks[]
- If the player has 85 or more health, picking up a large Medkit is a waste. Instead, they should wait until they’re much closer to 70 or lower health in order to maximize the Large Medkit’s potential.
LameDuke[]
In LameDuke, a Six-Pack of Coca-Cola replaces the Large Medkit. It is otherwise the same as the Large Medkit, but it blows-up when shot, similar to the Cola seen in Duke Nukem I and Duke Nukem II. The Six-Pack is one of the most powerful healing items in Duke Nukem II, from which LameDuke drew much of its inspiration.
Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour[]
In Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour, the Medkits no longer bear the symbol of a red cross. Instead, the symbol is a pill. The item is otherwise unchanged.
Trivia[]
- In Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour, the Small Medkit, Large Medkit, and Portable Medkit all had their sprites updated such that the symbolic red cross has been replaced with a symbol of a red and white pill. This was done because the International Committee of the Red Cross had previously filed lawsuits against other game developers for using the red cross symbol, which is not public domain.
