Mirage Barrage is the fourth level of Alien World Order in Duke Nukem 3D and takes place in Giza, Egypt.

Secret exit

At the end of the level, after destroying both reactors, head back to the switch that revealed the reactors. Turn to the wall opposite this switch, crouch, and walk forward. It is possible to pass through the wall into a secret compartment. Inside is a secret exit to Prima Arena.

Secrets

Secret 1: Top of the small pyramid

Get to the top of the stairs near the great pyramid. Instead of heading up the ramp, take a left and walk across the desert sand. Take a left and head toward the building with a smaller pyramidal shaped roof. Jump onto the roof and head to the top to reach the secret, and get an atomic health pickup.

Secret 2: Serious Sam

From Secret 1, drop down from the pyramid and walk up to the deceased Serious Sam.

Secret 3: Hieroglyphs

As soon as you enter the pyramid, head up the stairs and look right at the pillars. Open the hieroglyphic picture to find a box of pipebombs.

Secret 4: Crack in the fire room

In the fire room with the lava, destroy the crack in the wall and walk through.

Secret 5: Crack in the water room

In the water room, find the crack in the wall and walk through.

Secret 6: Secret exit button

At the end of the level, after destroying both reactors, head back to the switch that revealed these reactors. Turn to the wall opposite this switch, crouch, and walk forward to get the secret, and gain access to the secret level exit.

Easter eggs

  • Serious Sam can be found in a secret area of the desert beside the smaller pyramid. Duke quips, "Why so serious, Sam?" (see the following Trivia section).
  • The four "element" stones that Duke must activate inside the pyramid are a reference to the movie The Fifth Element.
  • The final spaceship has some exterior/outer zones with pyramid shapes. This maybe a reference to the pyramid-shaped spaceships seen in the movie Stargate and its subsequent TV show Stargate SG-1.

Trivia

  • Serious Sam's cameo appearance on this level may be an attempt by the Duke Nukem developers to make a friendly jab back at the developers of the Serious Sam franchise for featuring a deceased Duke Nukem in Serious Sam 2.
